Skin Congestion
Over-production of oil (sebum) leads to blockage, narrowing or closure and inflammation of oil channels (sebaceous glands) on our skin. The build-up of dead skin cells and proliferation of acne-causing bacteria further exacerbate the skin health. The end results include open or closed comedones (black or whiteheads) and/or acne. Treatments aim to regulate the production of sebum and skin turnover. Extrinsic factors that aggravate the condition include prolonged sun exposure without protection, smoking, diet and lifestyle.
