Jowls
A jowl refers to the sagging skin that forms along the jawline. With time, the production of collagen, elastin and skin hydrators reduces naturally in our skin. This leads to laxity of the skin and loss of facial volume, and combined with laxity of facial ligaments, resulting in the formation of jowls, usually in combination with nasolabial folds, marionette lines and sunken cheeks. Jowls can make the face look tired, sad and aged. Treatment involves improving the integrity and general health of the skin, combined with restoring the mid-face volume.
