What are skin injectables?

Skin injectables such as Profhilo and Restylane Vital are a new-generation injectable bio-stimulation treatment. They contain hyaluronic acid that helps to rebuild lost collagen and elastin in the deep layers of skin (dermis) caused by the ageing process.

  • Dr M treats all her patients personally, starting with the M-ethod™ Consultation to discuss your desired results and expectations.

    Once the treatment has been agreed, you will have some pre-treatment photographs taken. The treatment area will be cleansed and marked with a pencil using the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP) technique. The technique of administering skin boosters involves placing 5 small injections per side of the face, which is usually tolerated well without numbing.

    Following treatment, you will be offered a review appointment and receive aftercare instructions in your inbox.

  • Results are visible from week-one, with the optimal effect visible one month after your treatment.

    Lifting and tightening of the skin will be evident over the longer term (3-6 months).

  • Contrary to popular belief, you can stop - but you most likely wouldn’t want to as the results are simply too great!

    As the effects of skin boosters wear off, your skin would gradually return to its pre-treatment state. Dr M generally recommends repeated treatments every 6 months to continue the effects.

  • Skin boosters may be administered on the face, décolletage, hands.

  • Unlike dermal fillers, which also made from hyaluronic acid but are cross-linked so stay in the place they are injected, Skin boosters spread within the skin to treat the target area, giving an overall refreshed appearance to the skin itself.

  • Many people, both men and women, are often found to be suitable for skin boosters. The treatment is frequently requested by adults of all ages, ranging from those in their 30’s to those in their 50’s.

  • No, a patch test is not required.

  • We advise avoiding blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen (unless instructed by your doctor) 3 days before your treatment. We also recommend avoiding alcohol 24 hours before your treatment.
